Spring in the Mountains 2009 / 09_Weighing a Banded Bird Friday, April 24–Sunday, April 26, 2009

After placing a White-throated Sparrow into a bag and measuring the weight, NPS Ranger Paul Super removed the sparrow and weighed the empty bag. Then the actual weight of the sparrow was determined by subtracting the weight of the empty bag from the weight obtained when the bird was in the bag.
