Can you detect any impact of man such as pollution in the deep ocean? —Molly and Beverly, teachers from Forsyth Co.
We can detect the impact of man during our missions to the deepwater reefs. We have seen lines, pieces of plastic and metal containers on the bottom. We can also detect pollution back in the lab when we test the corals. Both air and water pollution contain chemicals which show up in the coral structure.
