11/02/05 - The weather wins |
After an entire night spent steaming to Cape Canaveral, Florida, we arrived this morning to high seas. Rather than potentially waste dive time, we continued south of our Cape Canaveral site. We were hoping to find manageable seas at a new location, off the Florida coast near Ft. Pierce, where this mission hasn't dived before. Unfortunately, the seas were still too high to permit safe deployment of the sub. We surrender! The weather wins. The decision has been made by Dr. Steve Ross that we will head into port at Ft. Pierce Thursday morning and start packing up our equipment and samples.
