Q: What kinds of sharks did you see on this mission?
A: We saw several different species of sharks, including the chain dogfish, the roughskinned spiny dogfish, and the Atlantic sharpnose. We caught sharks with the net, as well as seeing them from the sub. The largest (a roughskin spiny dogfish) was about 32 inches in length and the smallest was about four inches.
On the final night, several people on watch saw two large sharks mating near the ship, but an identification could not be made.
