Our group met up at 6:30 am for a pre-breakfast sunrise geyser walk. We came across some “geyser gazers” — people who watch for a record data on geyser eruptions — and they convinced us to stick around to watch Grand Geyser erupt. We oohed and aahed at the sight of the tallest predictable geyser in the Upper Geyser Basin.
After breakfast we drove to Lower Geyser Basin and were treated to eruptions upon our arrival — what good luck. Great Fountain and Fountain Geysers sent bursts of water and steam high into the blue sky.
Fountain Paint Pots (bubbling mud) fascinated us as we collectively took hundreds of photos, hoping for the one that would capture the moment of a mud bubble bursting.
We drove along the picturesque Madison River, stopping several times for Elk, ravens, and a picnic lunch. Soon we were back at our starting point — the Mammoth Cabins. Our journey is nearing its end. *sigh*
